Sound the remake klaxon! We have another one rattling through the Holly-factory on its way to glory, scorn, or both. In this case, it's 1992's Woody Harrelson/Wesley Snipes sports comedy White Men Can't Jump in the crosshairs.
Kenya Barris, who created much-praised sitcom Blackish for US network ABC, is developing the new take on the film under his deal with 20th Century Fox.
The original, directed by prolific sports filmmaker Ron Shelton, saw Harrelson and Snipes as street basketball hustlers who try to take each other on at first, then form a squabbling partnership and go for a bigger score.
Since it's just at an early stage for this one, there are no actors or a director attached yet, but it does have input from two producers who know a little something about sport: Los Angeles Clippers player Blake Griffin and NFL veteran Ryan Kalil, who will be involved behind the scenes.
And it's not the only remake Barris is working on: he's also been part of the team writing a new Shaft script, though that one is still in development limbo.
