Lately we have become accustomed to seeing Eva Green in femme fatale mode, so it's jarring to find her in Gregg Araki's White Bird In A Blizzard playing the perfect homemaker. Except, of course, that's not what she is at all, and there are secrets and mysteries simmering beneath that domestic surface. See if you can guess at them in the latest trailer.

As you'll just have seen, Shailene Woodley stars as Kat Connors, a 17 year-old whose mother, Eve (Green) disappears. With her own stuff going on, Kat doesn't initially much register her mum's absence. But as time goes on, she begins to appreciate how deeply she's been affected by Eve's vanishing, and the truth about what happened forces her to confront her own denial.

Actually filmed well before The Fault In Our Stars and Divergent, Magnolia PIctures are clearly hoping White Bird In A Blizzard can capitalise on Woodley's subsequent breakout success - and it's a role that she herself was hugely excited about, as an apparently long-standing fan of Araki's work.

Christopher Meloni, Thomas Jane, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe and Shiloh Fernandez co-star. Araki wrote the screenplay himself, based on Laura Kasischke's novel. There's no UK release date so far, but the States get it next month, with parts of Europe following in November.
