His name might not carry quite the same clout it once did on the big screen, so Wesley Snipes is taking his first crack at a regular role on TV since the 1990s. He’s signed up to star with Philip Winchester and Damon Gupton in Endgame.
Created by Leverage’s John Rogers, Endgame is being touted as a fast-paced thriller show set in the high-stakes world of Las Vegas. Winchester’s playing a former intelligence officer who now works as a security expert in the gambling paradise, and finds himself drawn into a mysterious conspiracy that will require him to complete a series of challenges to save innocent people. Snipes is a mysterious sort named Johnson who oversees the game, keeping one eye on everything that is going on, but not afraid to step in and clean things up if need be. Gupton, meanwhile, is set as a Las Vegas cop who helps Winchester when needed.
US network NBC has ordered a pilot for this one from Sony TV, so we’ll have to wait and see whether it makes it to screens. Rogers has had a decent success ratio on that front of late, and with the Snipes hook it might have more of a chance than some. Last seen in The Expendables 3, he has crime thriller Five Minutes To Live in development, which may have to wait if Endgame goes to series. The real question we want answered is, can this new show live up to Masters Of The Martial Arts Presented By Wesley Snipes?
