The siren song lure of working with Christopher Nolan continues to hold actors in its sway, and the list of performers signed up to work on his Interstellar is now almost as long as a football team. Still, he may finally be at the end of a long round of casting decisions, with Wes Bentley locked in for what is described by the Hollywood Reporter’s sources as “a meaty supporting role.”

Despite that we doubt he’s playing a living ham sandwich, though the prospect of dimensional travel means that anything’s possible, we suppose. Given Nolan’s typical level of secrecy about the film, beyond the admission that it features a heroic group of explorers heading through a wormhole, there’s not much else to say about the plot. Nolan created the script by blending an original of his own with a concept that his brother Jonah had been cooking up for Steven Spielberg. The inspiration came from Caltech physicist Kip Thorne’s theory of the astronomical phenomenon, so make of that what you will - assuming you have at least one PhD.

Bentley’s just the latest in a long line of actor choices that has already included Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Matthew McConaughey, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Mackenzie Foy, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Timothee Chalamet and Bill Irwin.

Last seen in The Hunger Games, Bentley is part of Terrence Malick’s** Knight Of Cups**, Lincoln pic The Green Blade Rises and Lovelace, which is out here on August 23.
