Anthology horror movies have a long-standing tradition – look at Creepshow, or more recent examples like VHS. But what about horror movie anthologies? We might be facing a more locked-down Halloween than usual, but the good folk at Blumhouse are intent on freaking us all out at home with ‘Welcome To The Blumhouse’, a set of four separate feature films streaming on Amazon Prime Video this October. Now, we have our best look yet at what each film will bring, with individual posters and trailers for each one. Take a look below, and prepare to get spooked.

First up is Black Box, directed by Emmanual Osei-Kuffour Jr., who also co-writes with Stephen Herman. This one looks a little Black Mirror-esque, revolving around a man taking on an experimental VR treatment in the wake of the car crash that killed his wife. Note that the trailer and poster cite Blumhouse’s other tech-centric film, Leigh Whannell’s Upgrade.

Second is The Lie, which arrives on 6 October, the same day as Black Box. This one is written and directed by Veena Sud, who was behind the American remake of The Killing. It stars Joey King as Kayla, a teenage girl who seemingly kills her best friend – and whose parents try to cover it all up in a series of lies that spiral out of control.

Arriving one week later on 13 October is Evil Eye, directed by Elan and Rajeev Dassani, written by Madhuri Shekar, and co-produced by Priyanka Chopra Jones. This one’s about seemingly idyllic couple Pallavi and Sandeep – and Pallavi’s mum Usha who suspects there’s something more to Sandeep than meets the eye.

And finally, there’s Nocturne – also coming on 13 October, written and directed by Zu Quirke, about rival twin sisters at a prestigious music school, and the death of a student who may have been mixed up in some supernatural things.

Here’s the Nocturne poster, to remind you that – among all the usual horror fare – Blumhouse was also partially behind Whiplash.
