Walden Media has found some riders for its previously announced fantasy adaptation of Dick King Smith novel The Water Horse.
The company has hired Emily Watson, Ben Chaplin and Millions’ Alex Etel to saddle up for the story of a a lonely lad in Scotland (Etel) who discovers a strange egg on a lake shore. When the egg hatches, a mystical creature known as a “water horse” emerges. And everyone lives happily – and moistly - ever after. Apparently.
Jay Russell is directing, and Robert Nelson Jacobs has penned the script. We now also know that Weta workshop will be handling the effects. Not really a surprise, given that they worked wonders on Walden’s Narnia…
