Horror pitch sold

Has no one learned the lesson of Dead Calm? That you don’t pick up strange people in the middle of the ocean, even if they really, really need help?

Clearly Touchstone hasn’t, since the idea of an ocean rescue turning nasty is at the core of the new horror pitch the company has just bought.

Dead In The Water, written by Noah and Alex Hawley, focuses on a grieving couple trying to save their marriage. They decide upon a cruise, but things turn frightening when the crew rescues a man at sea.

The Hawleys have been doing well for themselves. Alex wrote Renny Harlin’s Exorcist prequel, while Noah is not only a writer on TV drama Bones, but also has a film coming out next month in the US based on one of his scripts. The Alibi stars Steve Coogan as a man who runs a service to help cheating husbands who finds his own life in trouble.
