Game Of Thrones will be leaving our screens soon, but HBO (and Sky Atlantic here) have plenty of new shows arriving to keep us talking in the meantime. One of the most intriguing is the Damon Lindelof Watchmen series, drawing from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' iconic graphic novel. We've had a variety of cryptic teasers, and now a better look at the show and its tone is online.

Not a direct adaptation of the graphic novel, but a new story that treats it as canon history, Watchmen is set the world where superheroes and masked vigilantes are outlaws. Not much more is known about the plot beyond that, but Lindelof has said the following about his approach to the source material. "Those issues are sacred ground and they will not be retread nor recreated nor reproduced nor rebooted. They will, however, be remixed... This story will be set in the world its creators painstakingly built... but in the tradition of the work that inspired it, this new story must be original. It has to vibrate with the seismic unpredictability of its own tectonic plates. It must ask new questions and explore the world through a fresh lens."

The cast for this one includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison and Frances Fisher. It'll be on screens this autumn.
