Through the years, the medium of cinema has given us plenty of films about hurricanes and tornadoes (The Perfect Storm, Twister, Into the Storm), and plenty more about heists (Ocean’s Eleven, The Italian Job, Reservoir Dogs). But have you ever seen a film that combines both, and comes from the director of The Fast and the Furious? Make way for The Hurricane Heist — aka your new favourite Friday night beer and pizza accompaniment.
The Hurricane Heist is — you guessed it — about a group of plucky thieves attempting to pull off a heist against the US Treasury during a Category 5 (that’s very, very windy) hurricane, and marks a return to big mayhem-fuelled action from Rob Cohen, the man who launched Fast and Furious and xXx. We’ve got the opening four minutes of the film right here, and it’s big, dumb fun.
If that clip’s whipped up your anticipation into an unstoppable cyclone of hype, you can see how Toby Kebbell, Maggie Grace, Ryan Kwanten, Ralph Ineson and more get on with film’s most ludicrous weather-based robbery from 6 April, when The Hurricane Heist gets a UK release. As well as breezing into cinemas, the film will hit Sky Cinema on the same day.
