In the world of Lucasfilm, eyes are mostly on the Star Wars series (hello there, Obi-Wan Kenobi first look!) and Indiana Jones 5 right now. But there’s another old favourite returning too – fantasy saga Willow, being revived in a Disney+ sequel series bringing back original star Warwick Davis, and a younger generation of characters. For Disney+ Day – bringing all kinds of new announcements for the streaming service, including ones from Marvel and Star Wars – Davis himself introduced the new cast in a properly funny video, with a few familiar faces in there.
The two biggest names here are Erin Kellyman and Tony Revelori. The former you’ll have seen earlier this year in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier as Flagsmashers leader Karli Morgenthau, having also appeared in the galaxy far, far away as Enfys Nest in Solo: A Star Wars Story. (The video’s best gag? Davis saying, “That’s actually the one Star Wars movie I haven’t seen…”) And Revelori plays bully Flash Thompson in the MCU Spider-Man movies, as well as playing Zero in Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Also joining those two in the cast are Dempsey Bryk, Amar Chadha-Patel, Ellie Bamber, and Ruby Cruz – who each make funny, charming introductions here. Little is known about the show so far – Jon M. Chu was attached to direct for a while, but left the show earlier this year. It’s being developed by Jonathan Kasdan and Wendy Mericle, with Ron Howard back as an executive producer – and it’s currently shooting in Wales for a 2022 release on the service. Everyone get excited for the return of your favourite fantasy movie (behind Lord Of The Rings).
