A parental pic for Steve?

Warners Tempts Carell With New Comedy

As seems to be the norm these days, Steve Carell is in heavy demand. Just yesterday we reported on the **Mail Order Groom **comedy he's pondering as a likely reunion with Date Night's Tina Fey (and that film is still awaiting release). And now Warners - with whom he has a development deal anyway - is trying to woo him with a comedy pitch.

Given that his moviemaking time is limited thanks to his commitments to** The Office**, he's a picky man, so the studio has splashed out $2 million to buy an untitled spec written by Cars scribe Dan Fogelman.

There aren't that many details about the possible pic, but according to Variety, it's a Love Actually-style blend of the bitter and the sweet about a man dealing with a marital crisis and attempting to restore his relationship with his kids.

Fogelman apparently wrote the thing with Carell in mind (he must've seen Dan In Real Life, then) and Warners appears to be looking at this as one of Carell's next projects, given that the company shoved its **Get Smart **sequel back another year on the schedule.

Oh, to be so popular...
