Oh, how we love stories like this one: full of rich detail, intriguing plots and massive stars to tout. . It’s time to play another round of What Does Hollywood Have In The Special Mystery Box, as Warner Bros. has nabbed an original, untitled script from Josh Zetumer, who has gained some notice in Hollywood for working on one of the seemingly endless current Bourne scripts and writing a draft of Dune that got Peter Berg attached to direct.
So what do we know about the new project besides the name of the writer who sold it to the studio? Er… Almost nothing. According to the Heat Vision blog, it will feature juicy roles to attract star names and has a genre element, though it isn’t science fiction. According to one really helpful “studio insider”, you “can’t put it in a box.” That sound you hear is the studio’s marketing department quietly reaching for the cyanide pills.
But it’s not like Warner Bros. hasn’t ridden the secretive genre project to success in the past. After all, Inception is still doing solid business for it at the box office. And the script has a champion in the form of Zombieland director Rueben Fleischer, who will be an executive producer.
Zetumer broke in with a script called Infiltrator that has Leonardo DiCaprio wanting to star. Oh, and while nothing that he created has actually hit the screen yet, he’s also been quietly beavering away as a script doctor on films such as Sherlock Holmes and Quantum of Solace.
Stay tuned for more exciting developments, when we learn what paper stock the script is printed on and which company will provide craft services on the shoot.
