Warm Bodies Consumes US Box Office

Stumbling, moaning zombies may not have much of a work ethic – except, perhaps, in regards to finding brains to gnaw on – but zom-rom-com Warm Bodies managed to get audiences out to see it, reinvigorating a slow time at the box office with $19.5 million (and $20 million including midnight showings) to top the charts across the pond.

The new arrival shifted Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters down to second place with $9.2 million, while** Silver Linings Playbook** bounded up one spot from fourth to third with $8.1 million. Fourth we find horror pic Mama, which made $6.7 million, ahead of Zero Dark Thirty in fifth earning $5.3 million.

While Sylvester Stallone may not be feeling quite the same pain as old chum Arnold Schwarzenegger after Arnie’s** The Last Stand** flopped badly last week, he won’t be too pleased with the Walter Hill-directed** Bullet To The Head**, which only managed a sixth-place start and $4.5 million. Their old Expendables mucker Jason Statham was seventh with Parker ($3.2 million), while Django Unchained slipped to eighth with $3 million. Ninth place went to Les Miserables ($2.43 million) and Lincoln crept back into the top 10 at the bottom, taking $2.41 million.
