Following yesterday’s reports that Colin Farrell and Paula Patton are circling roles in Duncan Jones’ **Warcraft, we’ve clearly entered that fuzzy period where actors are taking meetings and auditioning and names are being bandied about for roles. The latest batch of possibilities to hit the radar includes Paul Dano, Anton Yelchin, Travis Fimmel and Anson Mount.
As of right now, there are no details on the roles that any of them would take, and with casting still in the early stages that information probably won’t hit for a while even if they do end up in the film.
Beyond an intriguing glimpse into the world, Jones has offered no details as to how Charles Leavitt’s script will bring Warcraft to life, or which fragment of the sprawling universe will host the film. We offered up a few ideas when it was all first announced, so we’ll be intrigued to see if we came close at all.
The cameras are scheduled to begin cranking in January with Legendary Pictures putting up the money to get it all made.
Dano is fresh off the box office success of Prisoners (out in the UK this Friday) and will next be seen in 12 Years A Slave. Yelchin was part of the **Star Trek Into Darkness **crew and has Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive arriving at the London Film Festival next month. Fimmel has most recently made a name for himself in the US TV drama Vikings (he’ll find the sword training handy if he ends up in Warcraft), and Mount is currently best known for railroad Western drama Hell On Wheels.
