He's best known for playing Glenn Rhee, AKA The Man Of A Thousand Lucky Escapes From Certain Death on The Walking Dead, but Steven Yeun will be swapping the post-apocalyptic world for some different viral action, agreeing to star alongside Samara Weaving in Joe Lynch's Mayhem.
The director, who last made Salma Hayek pic Everly, is preparing to shoot Matias Caruso's script, which follows what happens when a virus that makes people act out their wildest impulses infects a corporate law office. Adding to the misery of a co-worker framing him and getting him fired, Yeun's Derek Saunders will now have to find a way out of the quarantined building, fighting for his life as well as his job.
Lynch seems excited to get to work on the film. “It’s not every day you get to throw action, sci-fi, horror, drama and even satire in the genre blender and hit puree, but Matias’ script, combined with a gung-ho cast and crew, especially Steven and Samara, will make for a deliciously dangerous and exciting cinematic smoothie... with a hell of a kick," he tells The Hollywood Reporter.
The cameras will be rolling and the fists flying later this month in Belgrade. As for Yeun, he's been busy fighting zombies on the hugely successful series which is currently airing the second half of its sixth season. Weaving is a Home And Away veteran who has appeared in the likes of Ash Vs. Evil Dead and has The Babysitter and toy adaptation Monster Trucks on the way.
