Returning to our screens in a couple of months, The Walking Dead is preparing for some big changes, not least of which is the departure of Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes. But while Season 9 kicks off with the various communities at some sort of peace, that won't last. And now we know one more person who will be causing trouble: Sons Of Anarchy veteran Ryan Hurst.

For those who would rather not know anything going into the new season, be warned that there are mild spoilers ahead. Hurst will play Beta, the main lieutenant of Alpha (an already-cast Samantha Morton), two key players in a group known as The Whisperers. This violent group, whose trademark is the skin suits they wear in order to hide from the Walkers, will be the primary threats in the coming episodes, with the hulking Beta as one of the most striking. Fierce, and fiercely loyal, he'll represent true danger.

How much of his story is told depends on the show's own storyline, which has diverged from Robert Kirkman's original comics in various ways.

Hurst also recently snagged a role on the next season of Amazon's cop series Bosch, with those episodes set to debut next year.
