Walken Among Gods Behaving Badly

While we’re all naturally excited to watch the small-screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, we’re going to have to be patient for that one, since it doesn’t arrive until 2013 at the earliest. But if you’re in the mood for some ancient gods trying to reassert themselves in the modern world, help may be at hand as the actor-crammed Gods Behaving Badly kicks off filming this month with Christopher Walken, Alicia Silverstone, Edie Falco, John Turturro and more among the cast.

Adapted from Marie Phillips’ novel – and shifting the setting from London to New York – Gods will find a young couple (Silverstone and Ebon Moss-Bachrach) who discover a dysfunctional family of down-on-their-luck deities squabbling and fighting and trying to figure out how to function in a time when they’re no longer quite as powerful as they once were.

And get a load of the cast that co-writer/director Marc Turteltaub has enlisted: Walken (Zeus), Falco (Artemis), Turturro (Hades), Oliver Platt (Apollo), Sharon Stone (Aphrodite), Rosie Perez (Persephone), Gideon Glick (Eros), Henry Zebrowski (Hermes) and Nelsan Ellis (Dionysus). Oliver Platt as Apollo alone is such weird casting that we're pretty much there.

The various cast members will report for duty through the middle of this month for shooting in New York…
