The next big Sundance purchase has been made- Michel Gondry’s weird fantasy The Science Of Sleep has been bought by Warner Indepnendent Pictures for $6 million.
The film – which stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Charlotte Gainsbourg – sees a man (Bernal) who is being held captive by the people in his dreams try to wake himself up and escape.
"There were six of us who saw it," WIP president Mark Gill told The Hollywood Reporter. "We never agree on anything, but we all loved this film. It's breathtakingly original." The executives were so enthusiastic that they opened bidding immediately after a 9:30pm Sunday screening of the film and closed the deal at 3:00am Monday morning.
