Mark Wahlberg has signed to star for Peter Berg in an as yet untitled biopic of international drug dealer Jon Roberts. Roberts' life was depicted last year in the documentary Cocaine Cowboys.
On returning from fighting in Vietnam, Roberts formed a relationship with the Medellin drug cartel in Miami. He was eventually turned over to the police by a cohort and spent ten years in jail.
This is a really interesting time for Berg as a director. He's been showing incredible promise since Friday Night Lights and though The Kingdom wasn't its match, it was certainly very well directed. If Hancock delivers on the promise of the trailer, Berg could potentially become one of the biggest commercial directors in the industry.
