Voyagers Trailer: Teens Go Wild On A Space Mission In Sci-Fi Thriller

If sci-fi movies have taught us anything, it’s that sending a group of humans into space on a colonising mission is fraught with two kinds of perils. First, there's the small matter of actually reaching humanity’s potential new home in the cold vacuum of the infinite void. Secondly, it's making sure that the subjects manage to not go stark raving mad on the journey. In Voyagers, from filmmaker Neil Burger, it seems like the latter is going to be the big issue. Because the problem with blasting a group of kids into space is that they eventually become teenagers in space, and teenagers are renowned for going off the rails. Add to that a seeming mind-control experiment involving mysterious blue juice, and this cosmic voyage is about to get all Skins. Watch the trailer:

Burger is a pretty stylish director – he was also behind the bonkers but enjoyable Limitless – and this looks like an entertainingly wild sci-fi story, with a great young cast including Dunkirk’s Fionn Whitehead, Ready Player One’s Tye Sheridan, and Lily-Rose Depp. Also on board (and looking mighty shifty) is Colin Farrell – could it possibly be that he’s up to no good? Farrell? Never! Here’s an early theory about that blue juice: it’s the stuff they put in Tango Ice Blasts that makes it impossible not to buy one in a cinema lobby.

We’ll find out exactly how it all pans out later this year, when Voyagers hits the big screen – it’s down for a UK cinema release, so expect it any point from this summer onwards, if all goes to plan.
