Vote For Will Ferrell!

This past weekend saw a political frenzy as voters in France, Greece and other European countries took to the polls. And later this year in America, another big vote will be decided. But we don’t mean the boring old general election to see who controls the country for another four years (we all know that’s the Flying Spaghetti Monster anyway, bless his noodly appendages), we mean the congressional race in North Carolina between Mary Huggins and Cam Brady. And now the pair has put out their first campaign videos on Facebook, which you can see below.

It’s the opening footage salvo in the marketing campaign for Jay Roach’s latest big screen comedy, The Campaign. The film will see Huggins (Zach Galifianakis) and Brady (Ferrell) slugging it out (possibly literally in places) for a seat in the state’s congress.

This first look at the oddball political figures is the first clue to what they’re based on – Ferrell’s Brady looks to be a take on his George W. Bush, while Galifianakis’ Huggins is his Seth Galifianakis character with a better wardrobe.

It’s interesting to see the two matched up like this, and we’re hopeful for the comedy, especially since Roach has shown such a keen eye for real politics in Recount and the more recent Game Change. But he’s also letting his madcap side loose and the two leads are definitely going to caricatures. Take a look at the two introducing themselves together on the film's Facebook page.

The Campaign arrives on September 28.
