The American people have spoken: and Star Wars: Episode III was their favourite movie of 2005.
George Lucas’ sci fi swansong swiped the top cinematic honour at the 32nd Annual People’s Choice Awards. It won’t exactly curry much Oscar buzz, but it’s the sort of trophy the stars love – proof that us audience types can’t get enough of them.
Take Johnny Depp, who once more scooped Favourite Male Movie Star, and Sandra Bullock, who pipped Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman to Female Movie Star honours. Confusingly, Brad Pitt also won a trophy for Favourite Leading Man. It all sounds a bit like school sports day – surely an award just for taking part isn’t far away?
