He tackled crime in a more oblique fashion in last year's A Most Violent Year, but J.C. Chandor is looking to stay with the criminal mind for a potential new project. He's developing a remake of German/Austrian film The Robber.
The original premiered in Berlin in 2010 and based its plot on a true story about an elite marathon runner who uses big races as cover for bank heists. It sounds like quite the thorny, complicated way to pull off stealing cash, but it sounds like it'll make another satisfying film, especially if Chandor does end up making it. Chase Palmer is currently adapting the script for FilmNation, which has worked with the director on movies such as Year and All Is Lost.
Chandor is juggling a few possible films at the moment, including Triple Frontier, which just got a boost from Johnny Depp starting talks to star. He's also attached to an adaptation of Vicky Ward's book The Liar's Ball, a true story of New York property barons and the failure of the real estate bubble.
