Vinessa Shaw Finds Siren

Don’t you just hate it when you wake up one morning and you’re cursed with a very strange secret – that your scent makes you utterly attractive to the opposite sex? That’s the dilemma Vinessa Shaw will face when she takes up the lead in indie fantasy Siren.

While it sounds a little like the Lynx adverts come to life (albeit with a woman instead of a bloke), writer-turned-director Jesse Peyronel is promising that it’ll be something quite different, and a lot more emotive.

“It’s really a grounded, intimate look at someone who has a special ability, but looked at in a personal way,” Peyronel tells the Heat Vision blog. “It takes a more a realistic look at an X-Men-style power.” To help actors and crewmembers envision what he was looking for, he sent the script out with a package of artwork and a link to a playlist that could be listened to while reading. Very Cameron Crowe…

Peyronel penned the screenplay a couple of years ago and has now rounded up the money to make the movie himself after watching friends and colleagues find success with their films. With Rob Kazinsky, Bess Wohl and Rose Partridge also in the cast, Siren has already started shooting in Massachusetts.
