With shooting now underway on the third season of techno-uprising series Westworld, the show has been adding cast members. The latest arrival is Vincent Cassel.

It will surprise exactly no-one to learn that the actor's role is, at least for now, a total mystery. He joins fellow new recruits Lena Waithe and Aaron Paul.

Season 2 saw the story expand beyond the park and into the real world as Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and her fellow hosts take their clash against humanity to a whole new level. Showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have promised a "radical shift" for the new season. "What's compelling and appealing about these characters is that they're not human," Nolan told The Hollywood Reporter. "As we said in the show, humans are bound by the same loops the hosts are, in some ways even smaller. You couldn't expect human characters to withstand and survive the kind of story that we're telling. The hosts have a different version of mortality, a different outlook. I think clearly with Dolores, as she's laid out, there is a longer view here, a larger set of goals. They're existential. They span eons. And that's a fascinating level of story to engage in."

"We’re incredibly excited to work with Vincent Cassel," Nolan and Joy said in a statement carried by Variety. "We’ve been longtime fans of his and are thrilled for him to join the Westworld team."

The third season isn't due to hit screens until next year, but before it does, you can catch up on the Burning Questions from the end of Season 2.
