As he continues to dance just to the other side of official announcements about voicing a role on Marvel’s **Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vin Diesel clearly plans to keep sci-fi in his future. He’ll next be on our screens in Riddick and has just attached himself to Arash Amel’s script** Soldiers Of The Sun.

Amel, who wrote upcoming Nicole Kidman film Grace Of Monaco, here tackles a very different subject, one that couldn’t be further away from a Grace Kelly biopic. Soldiers is set in a post-apocalyptic future where a squad of troopers is battling aliens who have taken over Mexico and, presumably other places on Earth.

As they serve out their tour of duty, the soldiers catch wind of a fabled city of gold that the extra-terrestrials, known as Orcs, are occupying. So begins a battle to liberate the place and its riches. Universal has nabbed the rights to this one, which Vin Diesel will producer alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The studio is looking to find another ensemble film that could kick off a fresh Fast & Furious-level franchise for the actor. And hey! The last major franchise to star lots of orcs did well, so they might be on to something.

Vin will next shoot Fast 7 with James Wan at the wheel, and is then set to make The Last Witch Hunter for Summit. Soldiers Of The Sun will develop in the background and needs to lock down a director before it can get before cameras.

Riddick will land on our shores on September 4.
