He may not be able to fly, bend metal with his mind or claim to be pals with Antony the Ant but Captain Fantastic is already shaping up to be an indie superhero. A breakout at Sundance and a hit with critics at Cannes, the homespun drama is heading this way with Viggo Mortensen in the lead role and a Wes Anderson-y new poster to share.
The film finds Mortensen's Ben, a Pacific Northwester who has dedicated his life to turning his six kids into amazing adults using books, his own knowledge of the world and the freedom to explore who they are. But then tragedy strikes and the family is forced to venture outside their self-created paradise and face the challenges of their city-bound relations, who don't exactly understand their ways.
The cast includes George MacKay, Kathryn Hahn, Steve Zahn, Samantha Isler and Frank Langella. With Silicon Valley's Matt Ross on writing and directing duty, Captain Fantastic will be out in the UK on September 9.
