We're used to Peter Farrelly (normally working with his brother Bobby) making comedies such as the Dumb And Dumber films. But for Green Book, while it has a few comedic moments, he's switched to a more dramatic tone for the true story starring Viggo Mortensen and Moonlight's Mahershala Ali. Find the first trailer below...
Green Book tells the real-life tale of an unexpected friendship between cultured concert pianist Don Shirley (Ali) and rough-and-tumble bouncer Tony "Lip" Vallelonga. Embarking on a concert tour of the Deep South in 1962, Shirley's management hires him a bodyguard in the form of Vallelonga. The men are from very different worlds, but do eventually bond, and the film chronicles the birth of their actual friendship.
The title, incidentally, comes from the guide book used by black travellers to safely navigate the States in pre-civil rights times.
Written by Farrelly alongside Brian Hayes Currie and Tony's son Nick, Green Book will be out in the States on 21 November and the UK on 8 February next year.
