Marshmallows, prepare to get happy. A few years afterRob Thomas, Kristen Bell and the Veronica Mars team turned to the show's cult fandom for help in making a movie, the show could be coming back as a limited series.
Fans won't have to shell out to get this one on screens, though Stateside viewers will have to pony up for a Hulu subscription. While none of the deals are fully locked in yet, Deadline is among the sites reporting that creator Thomas and star Bell are ready to return for a limited, eight-episode run on the streaming service, which will bring back the titular 'tec for more investigations and drama.
The show originally ran on US screens between 2004 and 2007, winning critical acclaim and a devoted following, but never quite cracking a big viewership. The movie, funded by Kickstarter, followed in 2014 and there was also a web-based series, Play It Again, Dick, focused on co-star Ryan Hansen trying to drum up interest for a spin-off. Now it looks like the original cast might also return, though those deals are also still under discussion.
And lest you worry that this might somehow impact Bell's work on The Good Place, calm the shirt down. The limited nature of the new Mars series is largely because filming will have to work around her schedule on the sitcom. Everything is fine.
There has been no official comment from either Hulu or Warner Horizon TV, but it's looking good right now.
