News about the sequel to last year's Spider-spin-off Venom (yes, one is on the way, the first one made a lot of money) is starting to snowball. Star Tom Hardy has been on board for a while and the movie recently locked in a director in the shape of Andy Serkis. And now we know that Michelle Williams will be back as Eddie Brock's (Hardy) ex, Anne Weying.
Out promoting new drama After The Wedding, Williams told Yahoo Entertainment that she's in. And that she's looking forward to collaborating with Serkis. "I’m such a fan of Andy’s, and I’m so inspired by what he’s been able to accomplish," she says. "He’s so gifted in such a specific way, and I’m very excited to learn from him and be around him."
Nothing about the plot for the new movie has been revealed yet, though Serkis has said that Hardy is involved in writing the script with Kelly Marcel and has been dropping bit hints about a potential Spider-Man crossover, though of course we'll have to see if that happens. Williams, however, is looking forward to more action as She-Venom after her character was briefly possessed by the symbiote in the original. "I hope I get equal time that way — I can say that!"
Venom 2 should be out in October next year.
