Matthew Vaughn has adapted the Neil Gaiman novel Stardust for the screen, and is now in final negotiations to direct and produce the film.

The 1997 novel is set in a town in the English countryside, where Tristan, the son of a farmer and a witch's servant, grows up knowing about the world of Faerie that lies beyond the Wall. When he promises his true love, Victoria, a falling star, he sets off beyond the Wall to find it for her, encountering witches, goblins, talking animals and evil trees along the way.

The project is being developed with the goal of making it a comic fantasy along the lines of The Princess Bride or The Neverending Story.
