Vaughn Now In For X-Men: First Class?

**Kick-Ass **director Matthew Vaughn, it seems, just can’t stay away from mutant prequel tale X-Men: First Class.

Last week, we learned that he’d been in talks to direct the film for Fox, while on the same day, it was reported that he’d passed and the studio had flung the job out onto the open market like bread in a duck pond. Various duc… directors had been interviewed, with names like Timur Bekmambetov, Louis Leterrier and Daniel Espinosa, who has been a hot property following the buzz of his Swedish crime thriller Snabba Cash, brought up as possibilities.

But now the main man is back in the picture, according to Deadline New York, with Fox calling of the search and kicking off solid negotiations with Vaughn’s representatives to get him on board.

With any luck, this will bring an end to the issue, but no one can forget how close he came to making X-Men: The Last Stand, which he left nine weeks before it was due to start filming. This time we bet Fox nails one of his feet to the studio floor…
