Valkyrie Release Date Moves Again

After all the delays, in-set controversy, accidents and speculation, it's impossible to say, definitively, what this news means, but Bryan Singer's beleaguered Tom Cruise-starring Valkyrie has got yet another release date, and this one's December 26, 2008.

For those of you keeping score, that's a move backwards from the previous date of February 13, 2009 - and since release dates being pushed back and back are generally seen as a bad sign, this must be a good one - right?

The decision was apparently taken in response to a positive test screening, but it's being claimed that it's a decision taken for commercial reasons rather than prestige ones - the studio sees it as a "holiday" picture and awards consideration is not the overriding factor. That said, this would put it back in the awards race in terms of timing, at least.

There's no confirmed word on a UK release date yet, but expect it to follow close on the heels of the US opening.
