Hugh Grant reveals all

Not content with getting himself in trouble with the law over that sexual indiscretion, Hugh Grant has been revealing to American journalists a predilection for sticking things up his nose. Happily, it's not as bad as it sounds. As Hugh explains, it was all down to boredom during his childhood. 'I used to stick things up my nostrils,' he told a US TV show. 'I liked to stick apple peels. I don't know why I did--yards and yards of apple peel. There was [an] ear, nose and throat specialist at London Hospital [who] saw me sort of every three weeks for a period of time... I'd have to have it removed by tweezers.' As if that wasn't enough for his poor parents to worry about, it seems the young Hugh also had something of a drinking problem. 'I liked to drink household detergents as well, which was a dangerous thing to do... I drank a lot of stuff called Perizone, which was what you used to clean lavatories in England--and that was a serious worry for my parents.' Thankfully, both these rather nasty habits are firmly in the past for Hugh, who's also been talking about the kind of roles he'd like to play in the future. 'One of the things I've always wanted to do is do a film in uniform,' Grant reveals. 'I don't know why, but that seems to be in my blood. My father was a soldier.'
