The US Box office chart this Easter weekend was frightening for two reasons: one, distinctly warmed-up spoof comedy Scary Movie 4 made more money than anything else, and two, Disney’s new ‘toon The Wild spluttered and died. Though admittedly, that was only really horrifying for the Disney team.
Still, Scary Movie 4’s success means that this year’s American box office is officially healthier than last year's and that Tom Cruise jokes are still funny. Apparently.
Young ‘uns were clearly more interested in the continuing adventures of Fox’s Ice Age crew than a gang of zoo animals lost in New York (Hhm… where have we heard that story before?) As for the rest of the chart, it was much the same story as last week, though cracking comedy Thank You For Smoking managed to nudge its way further up the charts as it opened on more screens.
On with the charts!
