Over in Toronto, cameras have just started rolling on Breach, the new espionage thriller from writer director Billy Ray.
It tells the (inspired by true events) story of a young, low-level surveillance operative who is recruited into the FBI, ostensibly to work in a new division protecting all of the agency's intelligence information, but he soon discovers the boys at the top want him to spy on his boss, who may or may not be a mole. When things inevitably start to go pear-shaped, the young turk must protect himself and his family from the unidentified enemy by "bringing him down".
The young lead will be played by Ryan Phillippe, and the potentially duplicitous boss' shoes are being filled by Chris Cooper. The supporting cast includes Dennis Haysbert, Laura Linney, Gary Cole, Kathleen Quinlan, Bruce Davison, and Mary Jo Deschanel. You may recognise Billy Ray as the writer and director of **Shattered **Glass. Cinematography will be by Silence Of The Lambs lensman Tak Fujimoto.
Breach is scheduled for a late 2006 release.
