Universal Wants A Nightmare Academy

A new horror fantasy adaptation

Universal has grabbed the rights to a fantasy novel penned by a former producer of Arrested Development.

But this is no comedy tale. Dean Lorey’s book Nightmare Academy is the first in a planned trilogy that will see a boy discovering that bad dreams open portals that let evil creatures into our world. We knew there had to be some explanation for Uwe Boll.

Lorey planned the stories as tales for his kids. Apparently he’s one of those fathers who likes to scare them silly: "After I'd written 200 pages, my son asked to read it. Next morning, the lights were on, and he said he'd stayed up all night reading it." At least it wasn’t Lady In The Water. Now that’s a nightmare.
