In the spirit of Rowan Atkinson character films appearing years apart (Bean: 1997, Mr Bean's Holiday: 2007), Universal have decided that what the world needs now is another **Johnny English **adventure, a sequel to the 2003 movie.
Yes, despite seriously mixed reviews, the international success of the first film ($161 million around the globe) means that we’ve got another outing for Atkinson’s bumbling spy hero headed our way.
If you’re thrilled at the news, we’re happy for you. If the idea fills you will bowel-weakening dread, there’s nothing we can say that will make it better. Oh, Oliver Parker, who directed both recent St Trinian’s films is behind the camera, and Mr Bean’s Holiday scribe Hamish McColl has written the script. Not exactly names to inspire confidence, but who knows – this could be the movie that works wonders and saves Universal all at once.
Working Title is naturally involved and is looking to get the shoot started this August.
All we can say now is: Arrrgh! Thank you, Barclaycard!
