Underworld 4 Has A New Title

We always thought the moniker New Dawn was a bit of a sop to the Twilight crowd, but it's a moot point now, since Underworld 4 has a new title, and it's Awakening.

Set fifteen years after Underworld: Evolution (**Rise of the Lycans **was a prequel, you'll recall, centred on Rhona Mitra), the awakening in question is Kate Beckinsale's. Her PVC-catsuited vamp Seline comes out of a coma to find that she has a daughter (India Eisley): a vampire/werewolf hybrid, who's the product of that sudden tryst between Beckinsale and Scott Speedman in the back of the van in Evolution.

Previous reports have also mentioned a Weyland-Yutani-type corporation intent on creating "super-Lycan" uber-werewolves, but it also seems that this time around the wider world has awakened (see? It all makes sense!) to the existence of both supernatural species and is waging war against them.

Michael Ealy (Takers) and Charles Dance are also on-hand, Mans Marlin and Bjorn Stein (Shelter) are directing, from a script by John Hlavin and J Michael Straczynski, and Underworld: Awakening 3D will be released in the series' traditional January graveyard slot in 2012.
