Spoiler Warning: The following reveals the fate of a character from Resident Evil. Read on at your peril. Paul Anderson's zombie adventure won't be with us for a while yet but a sequel already sounds like it's well on the way and fans of the games can look forward to the appearance of a familiar antagonist. The Nemesis from the third Resident Evil game will be rearing his decidedly unattractive face and will be played by Eric Mabius, ill-fated commando, Matt, in the first film. "[The sequel] brings us up to above ground in Raccoon City," Mabius told Sci-Fi Wire. "I'm going to be Nemesis in the sequel. I'll be putting on 30 or 40 pounds and three or four hours a day in prosthetics. This guy has tentacles and all this crazy stuff going on." His character last seen being dragged off by evil scientists, Mabius' transition to single-minded undead killing machine is cause for more than a little mental preparation. "I prepare to an annoying extent usually, so I'll probably dissect every possible aspect... of the character. Obviously, it will be predicated on where the character goes in the script, but I'll gather everything I can about the character [from the game]." From what Empire Online recalls, the game's Nemesis does little more than lumber around in a surly manner growling a lot and generally being unpleasant, but then, what do we know? Director Anderson has denied that the script is completed but Mabius was insistent that a second film is all but in the bag. "When Bernd Eichinger, the head of Constantin Films, saw an early cut in December, he wanted Paul to start writing the sequel," Mabius said. "Based on some of the pre-sales alone, Sony is demanding a sequel already. It's pretty exciting and wasn't really anticipated."
