Awards season rumbles onwards, and today brings the nominations for the Indie Spirit Awards, which sidesteps the bigger budget and studio films in favour championing the underdogs at the box office. This year's nominations crop is led by the Safdie brothers' Uncut Gems and Robert Eggers' The Lighthouse.
We're glad to also see Booksmart and Hustlers among the various categories, and there are the usual surprises – such as Ari Aster's Midsommar largely being shunned.
Below you can find the full list of nominees. The awards take place in Santa Monica on the traditional day-before-the-Oscars, which this year means 8 February.
