With Hollywood, the catwalk and the country house already given a good seeing to, Robert Altman's turning his acerbic attention on to the world of art in his new project entitled Ultraviolet. Based on his own idea, the film sees The Player and Pret-A-Porter director reunited with friends Focus Features, the company which distributed his most recent film Gosford Park. With only a few details released so far, the project is described as a thriller set in the competitive and back-stabbing art world of New York. A ripe target of Altmanesque ridicule if ever we've heard one. Thrust into development Ultraviolet may be, but the busy Altman might have to attempt another of his gestating projects before plunging into the formaldehyde forms of modern art. His TV film about the exotic and notorious World War I spy, Mata Hari is still fast on track after bagging Cate Blanchett for the eponymous role.
