If there's one thing you can tell from the new posters for anime adaptation Ghost In The Shell, it's that Scarlett Johansson will leap through things a lot. If there's one other thing, it's that robo-geishas look pretty damn terrifying up close.
Johansson's character is The Major is a sleek, sophisticated, powerful cyborg enforcer constructed and employed by Hanka Robotics to track down those who would attack the company's technological assets.
Prime among the threats is a mysterious hacker known as The Laughing Man, who has been upping his game in terms of killing and spreading mayhem, so he's top of The Major's hit list, leading her team (Section 9) to track him down. But all might not quite be as it appears, and our hero could have some revelations in her future, specifically about her past...
The biggest challenge for the movie remains the reaction from fans of the original, concerned that the new version might not be as faithful (and culturally appropriate) as it could have been. The real test will be when the movie opens in cinemas on 31 March.
