God bless Twitter. It has its detractors, but where else after all, can you find out what’s going through Ashton Kutcher’s brain (answer: ), or what keeps Lindsay Lohan up at night, or even the news that Christopher Plummer and Brad Dourif have joined the cast of the vampire western, Priest.
The latter was revealed by the director of Priest, Scott Stewart (aka robotproof), in a Tweet just before the weekend. And that Tweet read like so: “You've heard it here first, gang...Christopher Plummer and Brad Dourif have joined the cast of PRIEST!”
And that’s it. With no more than 140 characters to play with, Mr. Stewart – whose first movie, the eagerly-anticipated supernatural siege movie, Legion, is due out in January – deigned not to fill in any further details. So we don’t know, for example, who the venerable Plummer and kooky Dourif will be playing in the comic book adaptation, which stars Paul Bettany as a priest-turned-vampire hunter tracking down the bloodsucking bastards who kidnapped his niece. We also don’t know exactly how or why Stewart is robot proof, but we’ll test him one day.
One thing we do know, though: Priest now has a cracking and eclectic cast, with Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, True Blood’s Stephen Moyer, Lily Collins and Maggie Q already on board. Filming is already underway in Los Angeles, from where Stewart has been Tweeting. And his most recent effort…? “Walked through our massive vampire hive set this morning. It’s gonna rock.”
Yes, yes it (probably) is.
