We’re not sure that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers really gets the whole plain-clothes thing. Hanging around with your iconic shield is probably not the best way to be sneaky. But when you have a cyborg assassin fashioned from your old pal Bucky causing chaos, we guess it helps to play it safe. If you’ve opened the February issue of **Empire and seen the feature on the film, you’ll know that this adventure finds Cap facing off against the upper echelons of S.H.I.E.L.D. when he disagrees with the policies of Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford). There are mysteries to solve and problems afoot thanks to the aforementioned Winter Soldier (played, as Bucky was, by Sebastian Stan).
Thankfully, Steve has Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow watching his back and Anthony Mackie’s Falcon as his wingman. Wingman. Wing. Man. Because he can fly, see? Is this thing on? {Fresh Images From Captain America: The Winter Soldier}
Evans is facing even more physical challenges here, and is paying the price. “I’ve been more hurt on this movie than I ever have,” Evans tells the paper. “I haven’t broken a bone, but you get hurt. There was a bunch of fight sequences on this movie where you’re like, ‘Wow, I just destroyed my knee today doing the same roll four or five times,’ but nothing that ice and Advil can’t fix, I suppose.” {New Captain America 2 Stills USA Today}
As for Falcon, it turns out he’s more of a kindred spirit for Steve than even some of the Avengers. “Meeting Mackie’s character, he used to serve, now he works at the VA counselling guys who come home with PTSD – they connect on that level,” Evans says. “I think they’re both wounded warriors who don’t bleed on other people. Cap has no one to bleed on. I think Mackie knows how to handle people like that. … Sometimes when things are bad, trusting a stranger is the way to go.”
