Of all the Frankenstein projects in preparation, it's the Kevin Grevioux comic adaptation that's lumbering ahead with the most power. The latest cast members to join I, Frankenstein are Miranda Otto and Yvonne Strahovski, taking their places alongside Aaron Eckhart and Bill Nighy.
As previously reported, the story takes us some distance from Mary Shelley, with a monster, Adam, that has survived into the present day. Trying to keep a low profile in a sinister metropolis, he finds himself fighting to protect the dangerous secret of his creation from rival clans of spooky immortals.
Strahovski, best known for her role as Sarah in NBC's Chuck, will play "a beautiful and gifted scientist" who seems to be the monster's love interest. Let's hope for Adam's sake that he has more luck with her than he did with Elsa Lanchester.
Otto meanwhile, is playing Adam's ally the Queen of the Gargoyles. We're assuming the erstwhile Lady Eowyn will be wearing some prosthetics for that role, unless these gargoyles are a good deal more attractive than the name suggests.
Stuart Beattie (Tomorrow When The War Began) is directing from Grevioux's own screenplay, and shooting gets underway in Australia at the start of next year.
