Makers of The Perfect Storm sued

Warner Bros, the studio behind The Perfect Storm, is being sued by the family of Frank William Tyne, the captain portrayed by George Clooney in the film. Tyne's family claim the film implies that he behaved "in an unprofessional, unseaworthy and incompetent manner". Ned McLeod, the Tyne family's lawyer, told the New York Post "we believe Warner Bros. or the producers should have either come to the Tyne family and asked for the life story rights or consent to dramatize their lives in that way". The Perfect Storm was adapted from the bestselling book by Sebastian Junger, which documented the real events that happened to Tyne and his crew.
