It's bad news for comic-book geeks today but good news for film fans as Frank Miller announces yet another film project, further eschewing the world of ink and thought-bubbles for the kiss kiss bang bang of the big screen. And he's kickin' it old school with this latest plan, an adaptation of Raymond Chandler's Trouble Is My Business, with Clive Owen lined up to star as none-more-noir 'tec Philip Marlowe.
The story's based on a Chandler novella, and features all the ingredients you'd expect - femme fatales, double-crosses and rich clients with secrets who prove no match for Marlowe's hard-drinkin', head-crackin' ways. In this particular case, Marlowe is hired to break up the relationship of a elderly millionaire and a showgirl, with less-than-uncomplicated results.
The film is being developed for Clive Owen to star, and also narrate (as he did, a bit, in Sin City) but there's no word yet on where it falls in Miller's schedule. We're guessing it'll be post-The Spirit, his adaptation of the classic Will Eisner character (although with a lead still to be cast, who knows?), but pre-Sin City 2, which everyone seems to have forgotten about lately, even if they're not declaring it dead just yet.
