Trent Reznor Scores Social Network

The ominous teaser trailer started to give us some idea of what David Fincher had made of the Facebook drama, but now the "dark" angle seems confirmed, with the news that Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor has provided the soundtrack for **The Social Network.

Reznor had some downtime planned to recover from touring and start noodling around with his next album. But, he says, "When I actually read the script I said goodbye to that."

Reznor has worked on soundtracks before (notably on Oliver Stone's **Natural Born Killers **and David Lynch's Lost Highway) but we think this is the first time he's provided an actual score. "I've always loved David's work but quite honestly I wondered what would draw him to tell that story," he says. Us too. But, he assures us, clearly having seen a cut of it by now, "It's really fucking good!"

The Social Network stars Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake, Aaron Sorkin and official new Spidey Andrew Garfield, in the story of "sex, money, genius and betrayal" behind the creation of Facebook at Harvard in the early 2000s. Aaron Sorkin wrote the script, and co-produced with Scott Rudin. It's out in the UK on the October 15. The soundtrack, "a satisfying record... or two" according to Reznor, should be out shortly before.
