Nothing to do with the Caitlin Moran adaptation that is getting a US version, Ridley Scott has been developing new sci-fi drama series Raised By Wolves for a while now. He's tracked down one of the leads, with Vikings veteran Travis Fimmel aboard.

While Scott's name appears as executive producer on a wealth of shows via his Scott Free company, Wolves would mark the first time he's actually directed episodes of a series.

Raised By Wolves, which will be produced for the Stateside TNT channel, focuses on two androids – Father and Mother – tasked with raising human children on a mysterious planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task. Fimmel will play a character named Marcus in the show created by Prisoners writer Aaron Guzikowski.

"I love science fiction because science fiction is casting and opening up a brand-new arena," Scott says in a statement. "The way we come into this brave new world is almost like starting it from scratch with nothing; there are six embryos of children, and that’s the beginning of evolution of the new race." He's on to launch the look and feel of the show, directing the first two episodes.
